Building Sanctuary in Madison, WI

Woman and sleeping childPlease help JRUUC raise funds to become a Sanctuary host site. Our congregation is a proud member of the Dane Sanctuary Coalition and the New Sanctuary Movement. In November, 2017, the James Reeb UU Congregation voted almost unanimously to become a Sanctuary site, to provide refuge to immigrants contesting their deportation orders.  Deportation tears families apart, criminalizes the parents and turns their children into orphans.

In order to do that, we need to get funding for construction to turn part of our Multipurpose Room into a private guest bedroom, to enlarge the gender neutral bathroom and install a shower there, and to meet city building codes.
The total cost for construction is $30,000 and we are hoping to crowdfund $15,000 of that through Faithify, the UUA crowdfunding site. Pledges can be accepted through July 30th.

Thanks so much for helping our immigrant friends and neighbors!
