Elizabeth Barrett: Congregational Administrator
Alice Mandt: Director of Religious Education
Alice is a third generation Unitarian Universalist (UU) and lifetime Madisonian. She has had a lot of experience with the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), beginning with a youth of color leadership training with DRUUMM (Diverse Revolutionary UU Multicultural Ministries) when she was 16. She also has had extensive training on the national level through the UUA, particularly involvement with anti-oppression work, youth empowerment, and leadership development. From 2005-2007 she was on the YRUU youth council and YRUU steering committee, and attended many meetings throughout the country as the denomination was trying to revitalize its youth ministries. At the same time, she was receiving extensive training through Groundwork, the UU grassroots anti-oppression training and organizing collective. She has led trainings in many UU spaces and has also sat on panels that discussed issues of diversity, multiracial families, and youth activism at a number of General Assemblies. She attended Religious Education programs at Prairie and First Society here in Madison throughout her childhood, and she has a strong grasp of the importance of faith development throughout the early stages of life. As a participant in OWL and Coming of Age programs, she brings a unique insider's perspective to religious education. Alice is currently on hiatus from pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Sociology at UW-Whitewater.
Heather Yonker: Music Director
Heather Yonker is an accomplished musician and multi-media artist. She has worked extensively as a musical director and choral director and has also produced her own award-winning experimental film. After completing a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from UW Madison, she began writing original musicals. Critics hailed her songs as "catchy" and "infectious." Heather has been commissioned as a composer and has scored for original musicals, industrial videos, computer animations, dance-works and independent shorts. She has performed as a pianist and accompanist, as an actor for public theater and as a dancer for MCT and MTS. She holds a Master of Music with an emphasis in music for multi-media from the University of WI Madison.
After a year and a half of fieldwork in Buenos Aires, she continues the study of Argentine music, with a specialty in tango. In addition to the college courses she presently teaches, she continues to teach private lessons, contributes to the annual Broad Humor Film Festival and The Madison Tango Society. She directed "Do Something," a series of free events geared toward nurturing young women in the areas of music and media arts and last spring was the musical director for CTM’s, The Music Lesson.
